Become a mentor

You can make a direct positive impact on the life of an LGBTQ+ young person

As a mentor, you join a young person one-on-one to support them through life’s challenges and joys.

Acceptance from at least one adult can decrease the risk of LGBTQ youth attempting suicide by 40%.

LGBTQ youth in mentoring relationships are less likely to display signs of depression, delinquency, and stress.

Mentored LGBTQ youth improve their relationships with parents and peers and are better equipped to foster their identity and give back to the LGBTQ community.

What mentors are saying

quotation marks

My focus is to try and help at least one LGBTQIA+ kid be a kid because it’s so important. I benefit just as much from this relationship as she does! She’s so compassionate and thoughtful… I get to be silly and queer and all my things with her. She means the world to me, and without her I don’t think I would have had the courage to put myself out there like she does.

Mentor, 38

quotation marks

I'm really glad for the chance to be a mentor in this program because nothing like this existed for me when I was growing up, and I'm really happy to be able to do something I would've really appreciated.

Mentor, 24

quotation marks

I love the flexible structure of it but how it's so supportive of its members. The program is clearly concerned with everyone getting the most they can out of the program and ensuring they maintain a relationship with their mentors and mentees but is also respectful of the needs of everyone. I've felt really taken care of while participating in the program.
