What to expect

Here’s what will happen after clicking “become a mentor”

  1. You’ll be invited to submit a contact form to share your interest in mentoring.

  2. Jake, Dkèama, or one of our other team members will respond with a program application, which includes:

    • Why you’re interested in becoming a mentor.

    • What identities, experiences, and needs you’d like us to consider when matching you with a mentee.

  3. You’ll have a conversation with someone on our team to get to know you.

  4. If we find a mentee for you, you will be asked to submit a comprehensive background check for our program and provide references whom our team will contact.

    • This process can vary in length, but we will keep you updated along the way! It can sometimes take a little while to be matched, but this is just because we are working diligently to ensure that we make a great match!

  5. Once matched, you will complete some orientation training so that you can learn more about Linked Mentoring, what it means to be a mentor, and our program’s values and expectations.

  6. After training is completed, you’ll begin one-on-one weekly meetings with your mentee. During this time, you’re welcome to get to know each other, discuss topics that matter to you, play games, do projects, and/or process questions you have about life.

  7. You’ll also receive monthly check-ins with one of our match support specialists to ensure a mutually fulfilling and meaningful mentoring experience.
