What to expect
Here’s what will happen after clicking “become a mentor”
You’ll be invited to submit a contact form to share your interest in mentoring.
Jake, Dkèama, or one of our other team members will respond with a program application, which includes:
Why you’re interested in becoming a mentor.
What identities, experiences, and needs you’d like us to consider when matching you with a mentee.
You’ll have a conversation with someone on our team to get to know you.
If we find a mentee for you, you will be asked to submit a comprehensive background check for our program and provide references whom our team will contact.
This process can vary in length, but we will keep you updated along the way! It can sometimes take a little while to be matched, but this is just because we are working diligently to ensure that we make a great match!
Once matched, you will complete some orientation training so that you can learn more about Linked Mentoring, what it means to be a mentor, and our program’s values and expectations.
After training is completed, you’ll begin one-on-one weekly meetings with your mentee. During this time, you’re welcome to get to know each other, discuss topics that matter to you, play games, do projects, and/or process questions you have about life.
You’ll also receive monthly check-ins with one of our match support specialists to ensure a mutually fulfilling and meaningful mentoring experience.
